So yeah i was bored and decided to go all the way for freerice.com. So proud of myself hah!

This week has been a really great week for me with all the events going on and the cellgroup multiplication and all the other cool stuff. We are all separated now aww! But then it is a sign that the cellgroup is growing- we grow bigger and smaller at the same time ( i love self contradictory statements that actually has deep meaning ). Went to Sentosa with Rachel yesterday, it was a day fully loaded with fun and photography of course! Took nearly a roll there, well actually 3/4 of a roll and i think all of them will turn out awesome. Great fellowship with Rachel too, learnt so much more about her; i guess you can’t really judge a book by its cover eh? and oh she has the ability to tell time and predict the weather; ph34r teh 1337 weather girl!

Yesterday’s last CG together was uber fun :) the word was really encouraging. Caroline was sharing her testimonial which reminded me of what God has done in my life. True enough in life there are 2 types of friends- casual friends and close friends. Close friends hold authority over our lives and can influence us; they can either build us up or bring us down. I’m very aware of this fact after looking back what i’ve gone through; After cutting the “not so close” friends or “not so good” close friends away, i’ve come to realize that hey its really true, these friends indeed made me who i am and even who i am as of now. I believe everything happens for a reason and that each detail of life is part of God’s divine plan for us to achieve our greatest potential and our ultimate destiny in life.

Pray & fast and in due season, reap the harvest. God is not a God that He should lie. Looking back at the things He did in my life, I can say to myself firmly that there is indeed a God watching from above. I remember the cellgroup day where we were supposed to prophesy over each other’s life and Zhi Hao mentioned that God will provide a vision and the provision for that vision. I prayed over it and guess what, in my hands was a legendary camera. Power of prayer.

Don’t blink twice! That was what i’ve posted for the blog title, beauty is not in the eyes of the beholder but in the eyes of its admirer! Think for a few moments and it will sound kinda wrong; Beauty is in the eyes of its beholder- i sense the nasserism! The guy who made this phrase must have been so self-obsessed but thats not my point; my point is that we ourselves define what we term beauty as and what appeals to our eyes.

Let’s talk about physical beauty. In a random survey we did today which involved 6 people- of which 3 of them are guys and the rest of the other gender, we found out that everyone of them found the hot girl beautiful and this hot girl was none other than Dawn Yang, Singapore’s celebrity blogger. She’s hot i would definitely give her that but by just looking at her blog i could really tell how physical beauty is overrated in this world. Look at her counter and boy oh boy, 7.6 million hits; first thing that struck me is she really that good of a blogger? As i scurried through the blog i found that the blog was actually filled with many of her photos and that there were more photos than word(s). If you guys would have researched more on her, she actually had plastic surgery before to enhance her looks so that would make her beauty artificial. So that would make my point that this world is overrating physical appearances.

As a musician i would definitely find skills and music a form of beauty- be it punk rock, jazz or R&B music is my thing and i would love to listen to every kind of music that are appealing to my ears of course. But let’s talk about skills. Before i go on i must say this that being a drummer myself i very much respect the all famous previously known better in Blink182’s awesome drummer- Travis Barker. In case you guys don’t know who Travis is, he was previously in Blink182 which was famous for the few songs like “All the small things” & “I miss you”. He’s currently doing drums for a few very famous songs such as the recent OST in step-up 2, “Flo rida-low”. Thing about Travis is once agian he’s overrated! Lets put him side to side with Tony Royster Jr; I could vaguely imagine Travis cowering at the awesomeness of Tony when he’s on his drums jazzing his way through the night but we all know for a fact that Travis is more famous than Tony even when they are in a field where drums rule the game- Just because Travis appears to be more physically attractive and appealing with his hot body and tattoos should he be more recognized than Tony who is a much better drummer than he is? Once again the world has overrated physical beauty.

Very much interestingly, in our little experiment when choosing a partner; majority of our subjects preferred inner beauty over physical appearances. When given a choice between Dawn Yang and a average looking plain Jane, people would rather pick the plain Jane if she had good qualities that appealed to our subjects. True enough, people would rather pick a person with qualities that they admire for a mate but sadly they have failed to apply that to everyone but we cant put the blame on ourselves for being stereotypical- which is actually a good thing just don’t be prejudical to anyone; its a fact that we can’t get to know everyone so we have to judge people by physical appearances.

In closing i would just like to say that physical beauty is really overrated in our materialistic world today, just head down over to Dawn Yang’s site at www.dawnyang.com where she blogs about her daily life and she has 7.6 million views to this day! But i’m pretty sure that beauty can come out of other places too, just look at the dairy of Anne Frank, i’m pretty sure theres no hot or steamy photos of her in her dairy but what was the essence that captured readers was the beauty of her diary was the hope that she held on to so dearly. Beauty can be found everywhere, open your eyes a little wider to notice the beautiful things that already exist around you. Don’t forget that physical beauty is only temporal and that it could be artificial.

Surprised Josh at SIM today wooot it was so funneh! Stunned him for 5 secs, should have seen his face! haha we ate at Adam’s road which had great NASI LEMAK woo my favorite… it was not as good as ponggol’s though but definitely cheaper; $3 for chicken wing set- Nice and cheap though the rice was a little soggy and crappy, the chili covered up for it. Now i know 2 great places to nasi lemak!

My long awaited film is finally here, one thing i like about film is the anticipation to wait for it to develop and all. Anyway i did 3 rolls, cost me $21.60 for developing 3 rolls and $10.50 for the film which cost up to $32.10 for everything, mmmm expensive hobby but i like it! view the photos @ www.flickr.com/photos/espedine

Mmmm yeah i have to admit im a bit of a heavy sleeper myself, i thought i could sleep for 6 hours and wake up but i din’t, slept till 2 in the afternoon today result was- missed the trail photo shoot for the Gatsby commercial and had to take a cab to church. I’m not the always-take-taxi guy because i believe in proper time management and scheduling to get to my destination; besides its very costly to cab too. Oh well i just had to do it.

Church was great, the word was great too as always. Pastor shared about the importance of the behind the scenes people and partly on the heart and attitude of a servant. People in the behind the scenes have pure motives, they know they serve not to please man but to please God and God only. I like the 10 truths about ministry the best was “The purpose of ministry is the glory of God”. What we do here on earth is to serve God and glorify him; whatever that we do, the words we speak, people will judge us and we outwardly reflect the God that we serve. Glorify Him.

Something cool happens everyday, today is exceptional not the fact that Geraldine took us for a walk around causeway point in which we pass by everyday and will be for the next two years, i’ve uncovered yet agian another “old stuff”- a letter. This was no ordinary letter, it was a letter from my grandpa exactly 11 years ago, he passed away 3 years after he wrote it; baptized with the holy spirit. So heres the letter and i shall use my superior chinese skills to translate it:

Irwin, my dearest grandson,

I’ve decided to give him, among my possesions a amount of money for his education, USD$200,000 (yeah USD) -small amount, but it represents my appreciation (sounds wierd and unsure), my love for him, and the love for my daughter, Ivy (my mom)- please help him to take care of this matter by handling the money well, put the money in a bank for interest and give it to him only when it he needs it concerning his studies beacause i trust you the most. I often dream and imagined him to grow into a perfect and talented man. He’ll be honest, have good characteristics, talented and definitely good looking; i’m not saying this because he’s my grandson and its a routine to say such words, facts speak for themselves. The sad thing is me not having the luck and fortune to witness that. How tragic!!

This letter really encouraged me alot, the man had great expectancy and faith in me that i would be a person of influence. I know who i am in God; with the same faith my grandpa had in me i shall live my life.
